Today is Africa Industrialisation Day. At Partner Africa, we believe that industrialisation and business can be a force for good.
However, we also know that without commitment, businesses often fail to enrich - and rather, exploit - people and the environment in Africa.
To safeguard against this, we encourage all African nations to actively adopt and implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP’s).
UN reports show that Industrial development is of critical importance for sustained and inclusive economic growth in African countries. Industry can enhance productivity, increase the capabilities of the workforce, and generate employment by introducing new equipment and techniques. Industrialisation, with strong linkages to domestic economies, will help African countries achieve high growth rates, diversify their economies, and reduce their exposure to external shocks. This will substantially contribute to poverty eradication through employment and wealth creation.
"Industry can enhance productivity, increase the capabilities of the workforce, and generate employment by introducing new equipment and techniques."
Partner Africa provides training to the State and Business on the UNGP’s to increase their awareness of how to protect and respect workers’ rights across Africa. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to arrange training for your organisation.
Equip your business with the training required to train responsibly.
