Initiatives to address salient social issues in Africa’s supply chains

In the first 3 months of 2023, Partner Africa’s Advisory team has been actively involved in a number of programmes that aim to address salient issues in various industries in Africa.

Employment is freely chosen; No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed

Partner Africa is working with the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) on a Grievance Mechanism Project which focuses on mapping out the experience of undocumented workers in Spain that have migrated from North and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Living wages are paid

Partner Africa has completed a Living Wage Pilot Project with AIM-Progress, and has also finalised a living wage pilot for a raw commodity client in Malawi.

Grievance mechanisms

We are currently engaged with several clients to design appropriate grievance mechanisms for workers.

Gender–Based Violence and Harassment (GBVH)

We are currently engaged with several clients to design appropriate grievance mechanisms for workers.

Development of Training Materials on Responsible Business

In January, Partner Africa launched a series of toolkits for buyers, suppliers and workers engaged in the apparel sector in Kenya.

In addition, we have been working with a beverage client to develop a toolkit on responsible business practices for commercial farms engaged in their supply chains.

Training workshops on Business and Human Rights and Responsible Business

Partner Africa is proud to be working with AIM-Progress and their African Hub members. In the last quarter, we have organised two events to enable members to share experiences on how best to respect human rights in their organisations and supply chains.
