Macro: Human Rights Impact assessments
- In response to the growing demand for human rights risks assessments for different sectors across Africa, as well as additional advisory work, we have now expanded the size of our Advisory team. We now have team members in the UK, Kenya, and South Africa, as well as associates throughout the region.
- Partner Africa has been involved in several Human Rights Impact Assessments over the last 3 months. We have:
- Completed a human rights impact assessment for the fish oil and fish meal industry in Senegal and Mauritania.
- Begun a human rights impact assessment in the cotton sector in North Africa.
Micro: Social Audits
- Our Ethical Audit Team continues to undertake ethical and social audits throughout Africa, using a range of bespoke and industry standards. Over the last three months, we’ve conducted over 200 social audits across Africa, including in South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria.
- In response to the growing demand for a Responsible Business Standard and Audit Process for small holders in Sub-Saharan Africa, we hosted a workshop in Kenya with over 30 small holder suppliers in attendance. In this session, we reviewed existing small holder Standards and Audit Processes with the intent of co-creating an Audit Standard and Process that is appropriate to small holders, and relevant to their lived experiences.
